Chia seed in tea

This has become my new morning obsession. I have been trying to figure out a way to add Chia seed to my morning breakfast. My husbands loves making Chia Seed Pudding, but I find myself not enjoying it as much as he does. My typical morning starts with a cup of tea, alongside with some fruit and perhaps an egg. Since I enjoy the Chia Seed Kombacha drinks, I figure why not trying adding the Chia seed to my herbal tea.

I now love having this as my new morning routine. The Chia seeds allow me to chew and satisfy the need to eat more in the morning. At the same time, it keeps me full through out the day because of it's high content of fiber and gel-like texture.

So what are Chia seeds? Chia seeds are seeds that comes from a flowering mint plant, Salvia hispanica. They are little black and white seeds that are edible raw. When soak, Chia seeds absorb water and form a gel-like texture. Chia seeds are full of protein, dietry fiber, healthy fat, as well as minerals; calcium, manganese, phosphorous.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cup of herbal tea
  • 1 Tbs Chia seeds

Directions:
  1. Make 2 cups of your choice of tea. (*I prefer herbal tea over black or green tea for this because of flavor and smell. I love black and green tea, just not with chia seeds)
  2. Add the Chia seeds and mix well so that it does not clump.
  3. Let the seeds soak up the water.
  4. Enjoy hot or cold. I like to add some stevia to my tea to sweeten it up.
